PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ARE GOING FOR NEWLY ESTABLISHED INFRASTRUCTURE TESTING IN LATVIA AND LITHUANIA
Several nature resting areas in Latvia and Lithuania are now available for people with disabilities. Reconstruction works are completed within project "Green Routes without obstacles" (LLB-2-257) of ENPI CBC programme Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus in Rāzna National Park (Latvia) and Gražute Regional Park (Lithuania).
Piloru Oak Park resting area by Ežezers Lake is now equipped with wooden deck suitable for wheelchairs, as well as campfire place, boating pier and toilet. Resting area at Gražute Regional Park has been also adopted for disabled people by constructing boating pier, outdoor class, campfire place and toilet facility.
On 14th-17th of October the newly created infrastructure testing trips will be carried out in order to assess the infrastructure availability. People with disabilities will visit reconstructed sites and assess to what extent project has managed to realize intended ideas, how convenient and accessible every specific site is.
BELLA CUISINE FEST „Cīši gordi” TOOK PLACE IN LUDZA
On 9 August, 2014 the Culinary Heritage FOOD FESTIVAL of the project LLB-2-266 “Culinary Service Improvement in Latgale and Vitebsk regions, based on Culinary Heritage concept“ of ENPI CBC programme Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus took place in Ludza (Latvia).
At the event around 60 catering sphere enterprises from Latgale (Latvia) and Vitebsk (Belarus) regions took part promoting their traditional regional cuisine. They publicly cooked dishes using local products and offered those for tasting to visitors of festival.
Belarusian participants of the event representing Miory, Verhnedvisk, Polock, Lepel and Glubokoye got acquainted with experience of Latgale home compounders and members of culinary heritage network in organizing the food tasting, and in turn, they offered to try Belarusian culinary heritage meals, which raised the great interest and was very enjoyed during countless tastings by festival visitors.
NEW BRANCH OF EUROREGION “COUNTRY OF LAKES” OPENED IN GLUBOKOYE
In the beginning of July 2014, Euroregion "Country of Lakes" has opened a new modern branch office in Glubokoye (Belarus), where new projects will be developed, training seminars, workshops and meetings of the Euroregion Council will be held.
The branch office premises were repaired and necessary computer equipment purchased within the EU project LLB-1-083 “Third step”, which is being implemented within the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Cross-border Cooperation Programme.

RESCUERS FROM LATVIA, LITHUANIA AND BELARUS PERFORMED JOINT PRACTICAL EXERCISE AT RAILWAY STATION “SOLY” IN GRODNO OBLAST
On May 29th, 2014 at the railway station "Soly" (Smorgon district, Belarus) during the joint international training exercise of the Regional Departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia and County Fire and Rescue Boards of the Department of Fire Safety and Rescue of the Ministry of the Interior of the Lithuanian Republic the simulated ammonia and oil spill caused by the collision of the freight train and passenger bus at the railway crossing was successfully suspended. More than 100 rescuers representing 3 countries, 30 units of emergency vehicles, including remotedly piloted air system and fire train were involved in this practical training.
Special equipment for liquidation of transport accidents, oil spills and chemical pollution was purchased and the joint training exersice held in the frame of the EU funded ENPI CBC Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Programme 2007-2013 project LLB-2-247 "Cooperation of civil protection systems' in emergencies, arising from transporting dangerous substances in the transboundary region of Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus".

DURING PRACTICAL EXERCISE LATVIANS, LITHUANIANS AND BELARUSIANS JOINTLY STOP OIL SPILLS INTO DAUGAVA RIVER
On February 13th, 2014 on Daugava river in Daugavpils (Latvia) during the international practical training of the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia and their colleagues from Lithuania and Belarus the simulated oil spills into the river according to the scenario from the oil refinery in Polotsk, Belarus was successfully suspended.
During practical exercise about 60 rescuers representing 3 countries made the wide band in Daugava river ice from one coast to the other and immersed special oil collecting bons into the river. Using these bons, special oil collector and pumps, the collected oil was pumped into special containers, and then collected and transported for disposal. In order to monitor the training process from under the ice and evaluate the effectiveness of oil spills collection the number of specially equipped rescuers dived into the river though the created water hole.
Special equipment for liquidation of oil spills and chemical pollution was purchased and the joint exercise was held in the frame of EU funded Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Cross border cooperation programme project LLB-1-057 “Setting up of joint response system to chemical and oil spills into river West Dvina (Daugava) in winter time".
JOINT EXERCISE OF LITHUANIAN, LATVIAN AND BELARUSIAN FIREFIGHTERS
On the 20th of June, 2013 the final event of the project Improving civil protection systems’ transboundary cooperation in the field of emergency management of natural disasters in the regions of Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus (LLB-1-022) took part in Alių peatbog, Švenčionys District, Girdėnai village.
The fire figthing forces from Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus carried out joint tactical excercise in extinguishing the fire in the peatbog together with the police, armed forces, local administrations and public health centers. The international forces learned how to coordinate their activities in order to prepare for real emergency situations in the border region.
The representatives of the Lituanian national television made a report about the training. The Mayor of Švenčionys District Municipality, Viceminister of the Interior of Republic of Lithuania Žimantas Pacevičius and the Viceminister for Emergency situations of the Republic of Belarus took part in the event and greeted the participants.
